In this Mini Bonsai “Prune & Shape” Workshop, you’ll immerse yourself in the ancient Japanese tradition of bonsai cultivation — a practice that reflects not only horticultural skill but also mindfulness, respect for time, and appreciation of simplicity.
Under the guidance of Crafted Identity instructors, this 60 minute session offers a rare opportunity to engage directly with the art of shaping nature — pruning, wiring, and refining a pre-bonsai tree in plastic planter (approx. 15 cm tall) into your own unique expression of living art.
What You’ll Experience
• Learn the philosophy and cultural roots of bonsai — from its Japanese and Chinese origins to its modern presence in Singapore’s garden heritage.
• Master the basics of pruning and shaping to reveal your tree’s natural form.
• Explore classic bonsai design styles (formal upright, slanting, informal upright, cascade, semi-cascade, literati & windswept etc.) and what they symbolize.
• Understand the essential tools and care methods to sustain your bonsai for years to come.
