Bonsai Traditions in Singapore: A Living Heritage Workshop (SG Culture Pass Eligible)
Event Description
Step into the world of bonsai — a centuries-old art form that has taken root in Singapore’s Garden City identity.
In this immersive cultural workshop, participants will explore the fascinating journey of bonsai from its Japanese origins to its place in Singapore’s landscapes, parks, and community gardens. Discover how bonsai artistry intertwines with our nation’s multicultural heritage, drawing influences from Chinese penjing traditions, Japanese aesthetics, and local horticultural practices.
Guided by local bonsai artisans from Crafted Identity, you’ll learn:
• The history and symbolism of bonsai in Asian and Singaporean culture
• How the art form evolved within our local heritage gardens and exhibitions
