Philodendron hastatum is a fast-grower with beautiful glossy blueish silver leaves. As the plant matures, new leaves become larger and more hastate and exhibit furrowing along the veins. This plant is best trained up a trellis.
Philodendron is the second largest genus in the Araceae family, commonly referred to as the Aroid family. The name is derived from Greek and means ‘tree-lover’, which refers to the typical growth habit of a philodendron, usually climbing a tree. They are sought after for the variety of leaf shapes and their leaves, when grown in the right conditions, can grow impressively large. Philodendrons make good houseplants as their epiphytic nature means they are adapted to a range of light conditions.
