Peperomia argyreia is also known as the Watermelon Peperomia because of its round leaves and silvery bands that make it look like a three dimensional watermelon! The leaves are semi-succulent and the petioles are a watermelon red. The plant does not really grow very large and instead maintains a bushy, compact habit.
Peperomia is a genus of around 1500 species of plants in the Piperaceae family. They occur throughout the tropics and subtropics, although there is a higher occurrence in Central America and northern South America. Most of them have small, succulent leaves and produce flowers that appear like spikes, or rat’s tails. Care for your Peperomia by allowing the medium to dry out between waterings or waiting for the leaves to become soft. Place it in a bright shaded location and use a growth fertilizer.
The product comes in a brown plastic nursery pot. (White ceramic pot is not included and it is for illustration purposes only)
